Although the Ishi Odamtten Foundation was originated with the idea of providing aid to undeserved areas of Ghana, we realize there is need everywhere. We decided that each year the Foundation would select a local charity in the Lansing area to donate to as a way of giving back to the communities we receive most of our support from.
In December of 2017 the Foundation donated canned foods, toiletries, cleaning supplies and diapers to Haven House in East Lansing, Michigan. Haven House provides emergency housing and support services for one and two-parent families with children. Our organization in October of 2018 donated body washes, body lotions, baby formulas, baby diapers, baby wipes, canned foods, personal hygiene kits, shampoos, conditioners and toiletries to City Rescue Mission of Lansing. The City Rescue Mission of Lansing provides shelter for homeless children, women and men in the greater Lansing area. We donated canned foods, juices, baby diapers and wipes, toiletries, personal hygiene kits etc. to the Homeless Angels Homeless shelter in west Lansing on December 28, 2019.
In 2020, we donated nonperishable foods, baby foods, wipes and diapers, cleaning supplies and personal hygiene kits to five homeless shelters within the Greater Lansing area in the summer and fall to support the needy during the pandemic. We continued our "Help Lansing Project" by providing food and needed items to all five homeless shelters in Lansing on June 2021.
