Although the Ishi Odamtten Foundation was originated with the idea of providing aid to undeserved areas of Ghana, we realize there is need everywhere.  We decided that each year the Foundation would select a local charity in the Lansing area to donate to as a way of giving back to the communities we receive most of our support from.

In December of 2017 the Foundation made its first donation of canned foods, toiletries, cleaning supplies and diapers to Haven House in East Lansing, Michigan. Haven House provides emergency housing and support services for one and two-parent families with children. We continued our program in October of 2018 with the donation of body washes, body lotions, baby formulas, baby diapers, baby wipes, canned foods, personal hygiene kits, shampoos, conditioners and toiletries to City Rescue Mission of Lansing. The City Rescue Mission of Lansing provides shelter for homeless children, women and men in the greater Lansing area.  In 2019 we made donations to the Homeless Angels Homeless shelter in west Lansing and since then have had the good fortune to take in enough charitable contributions to donate to four homeless organizations (Lansing City Rescue Mission, Homeless Angels, Loaves and Fishes Ministries, and Hanna's House)  multiple time per year.
